I made a commitment to myself to use topwater flys more. Today was one of those classic winter days, well as winter as it gets at this latitude. It started out with a slight breeze from the north, dying out to calm and then an east breeze. So here I am, using a Dahlberg on a clear, sunny day in slick, calm conditions. Heresy. But it worked. The first fish aggressively sucked in the fly with a sound you must hear to believe. A couple of others tried to pounce on it, but missed, turned a quick 3 circles and swam off. You miss a lot of fish, but it is a heck of alot of fun.
